seev.036 Corporate Action Movement Confirmation
Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked
The seev.036 is the ISO 20022 message an account servicer sends to confirm that cash or securities from a corporate action have been booked to the account owner’s accounts. It states what was posted, on which date, at which rates and after which taxes and fees. It is the MX counterpart of the MT566 and is sent on or after the payment date.

When seev.036 is used
When the issuer pays a dividend (DVCA), a coupon (INTR) or redemption proceeds (REDM), or delivers new shares from a bonus issue (BONU) or split (SPLF), each custodian in the chain books the result to its clients and sends a seev.036 per account and option. The account owner uses it to post cash and positions in its own books and to reconcile with the cash statement.
The confirmation repeats the event reference and option from the seev.031, the confirmed balance the entitlement was calculated on, and one movement block per posting: CshMvmntDtls for cash, SctiesMvmntDtls for securities. Each block says whether it is a credit or a debit, the posting amount or quantity, the dates, and the rates and amounts behind it, including tax withheld.
If a posting was wrong, the servicer reverses it with a seev.037 (Corporate Action Movement Reversal Advice) and then sends a new seev.036. A preliminary advice before payment, when the servicer offers one, comes as a seev.035 (Corporate Action Movement Preliminary Advice). See the corporate action lifecycle.
The Eurosystem collateral management system (ECMS), live since 16 June 2025, confirms corporate action payments to its counterparties with seev.036 under the SCoRE corporate action standards.
Versions in common use
| Version | Where it is used |
|---|---|
| seev.036.001.16 | Version of Swift Standards Release 2025 (live November 2025). The element tree, multiplicities and example on this page follow it. |
| seev.036.002.16 | The variant 002 of the same release, kept aligned with ISO 15022 for coexistence with MT566. Check which variant your custodian sends. |
| seev.036.001.17 | Standards Release 2026 version: among other changes, the intermediate securities distribution type is replaced by a following event type indicator, and an applicable rate can be given as an amount. Swift deferred these changes to 14 June 2027, according to Clearstream’s October 2026 release information. |

Rules worth knowing
- There is no function-of-message element. A new confirmation is a seev.036; a reversal of an earlier confirmation is a seev.037, which takes the place of the MT566 sent with 23G:REVR.
- Each cash movement needs
CdtDbtInd,AmtDtls/PstngAmtandDtDtls/PstngDt; each securities movement needs the security,CdtDbtInd,PstngQtyandDtDtls/PstngDt. - The amounts should add up: gross amount minus withholding tax, other taxes and charges gives the net amount, and the posting amount is what reached the account.
- Amounts carry the currency as an attribute and use a dot as the decimal mark. Percentage rates are plain numbers: 5 means 5 percent.
seev.036 XML example
CUSTAEADXXX confirms to ZagTrader Test Bank (ZAGTAEADXXX) the payment of the cash dividend announced in the seev.031 example: AED 0.25 per share on 100,000 shares of ISIN AEZAGT000016, gross AED 25,000.00. To show the tax elements, the example withholds tax at an illustrative 5 percent (AED 1,250.00), so AED 23,750.00 is credited to the client’s cash account on 5 November 2026. The tax rate is made up for the example and is not the rule of any market. This is the Document only.

</Document>Decode this example in the parserCheck the arithmetic the way a reconciliation team would: 100,000 x 0.25 = 25,000.00 gross; 5 percent of that is 1,250.00; 25,000.00 - 1,250.00 = 23,750.00 net and posted.
The event reference ZT26DVCA0001 and option 001 are the same as in the notification, which is what lets the receiver close the event.
The IBAN, BICs, references and ISIN are made up; the IBAN and ISIN carry valid check digits.
seev.036 and its MT equivalent
The seev.036 is the ISO 20022 counterpart of the MT566 Corporate Action Confirmation. MT566 sequence A (references and event type) maps to CorpActnGnlInf, sequence B (account, security, confirmed balance) to AcctDtls and CorpActnGnlInf/FinInstrmId, sequence C to CorpActnDtls, and sequence D with its securities (D1) and cash (D2) movements to CorpActnConfDtls. An MT566 sent with 23G:REVR to reverse a booking becomes a seev.037.
Corporate action confirmations were not part of the November 2025 payments deadline, and MT566 remains in use on FIN. Where a custodian offers both, agree the version and variant before switching and check that your booking logic reads the posting amount and posting date from the right elements. See ISO 20022 migration for securities vs payments.

Common errors and rejects
Posted amount does not match the cash statement
Match
How to fix itPstngAmtandValDtagainst the cash statement (MT940 or camt.053), not the gross amount. A difference usually means tax, fees or an FX conversion that your system did not expect; the other amount elements andFXDtlsexplain it.Confirmed balance differs from your position
If
How to fix itConfdBalis not your record date position, a trade may have settled late, a loan or collateral movement may be counted differently, or a market claim is still to come. Reconcile the position before chasing the amount.Withholding tax higher than expected
Tax at the full statutory rate instead of a treaty rate usually means the beneficial owner documentation was missing or late. The difference is recovered, if at all, through a reclaim. Check
WhldgTaxRateand the tax elements against the rate you documented.Reversal booked as a new confirmation
A correction should come as a seev.037 reversal followed by a new seev.036. If your system only reads seev.036, a reversal is missed and the first posting stays in your books, so the account shows the payment twice after the corrected one arrives.
Confirmation that matches no event
The
CorpActnEvtIdor option number differs from the notification, for example after the servicer changed references. Confirmations that do not match stay unbooked in the event system. Ask the servicer for the link and checkNtfctnIdwhen it is filled.Amounts lost or rounded in MT translation
MX amounts allow more decimals and more amount types than the MT566 can show. If a client still receives MT566 converted from seev.036, check that every amount it books survives the translation.
How to fix it
seev.036 questions
- What is the difference between seev.036 and MT566?
- They confirm the same thing: cash or securities booked for a corporate action. The seev.036 is XML and has no function-of-message field; a reversal, which the MT566 does with 23G:REVR, is a separate seev.037 message.
- Which amount should I book from a seev.036?
- The posting amount,
CshMvmntDtls/AmtDtls/PstngAmt, with the credit or debit indicator and the posting or value date. Gross, net, tax and fee amounts explain how the posting amount was reached. - Where is withholding tax in a seev.036?
- The amount is in
CshMvmntDtls/AmtDtls/WhldgTaxAmtand the rate inCshMvmntDtls/RateAndAmtDtls/WhldgTaxRate, the same information as 19B::TAXR and 92A::TAXR in the MT566. - Is a seev.036 sent for every corporate action?
- It is sent when something is booked: cash, securities or both. Purely informational events, such as a meeting or a name change without a securities exchange, have no movement and so no confirmation.
- What is the difference between seev.035 and seev.036?
- seev.035 (Corporate Action Movement Preliminary Advice) tells you before payment what you are expected to receive. seev.036 confirms what was actually booked. Only the seev.036 should drive final postings.
