What CGEN means

:25D::IPRC//CGEN marks a transaction on your account that you did not send. The servicer reports it so you can book and reconcile it like any other settlement.

The reason in :24B::CGEN// names the source: CLAI (a market claim after a corporate action), TRAN (a transformation after a corporate action), SPLI (split or shaping to allow settlement after a shortage), COLL (collateral management), THRD (a third party such as a central counterparty), RODE (return of a refused delivery) or NARR.

When you see it

  • After a dividend or other income event where a pending trade crossed the record date and the CSD generated a market claim.
  • When a CSD cancels and replaces pending instructions after a corporate action (the old one shows CAND, the new one CGEN).
  • When a CCP settles net positions on your account.

What to do next

  • Book the generated transaction and link it to the original trade or event using the linkage references in sequence A1 (for example :20C::CORP// or :20C::PREV//).
  • Do not send your own instruction for the same movement: it would create a duplicate.
  • If you cannot explain the transaction, ask the servicer for the source document before it settles.
