MT711 Advice of a Third Bank's or a Non-Bank's Documentary Credit

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT711 carries the part of a documentary credit that does not fit in an MT710. An advising bank that passes a credit on to another advising bank sends the MT710 and then one or more MT711 messages with the remaining goods, documents, conditions and special payment conditions.

What MT711 is used for

The MT710 is used when the bank that received a credit from the issuing bank (or from a non-bank issuer) advises it to a second bank rather than directly to the beneficiary. When the credit text is long, the MT711 continues it, in the same way as the MT701 continues an MT700.

Field 20 is the sending bank’s own reference and field 21 the credit number given by the issuer, so the receiver can match the MT711 to the MT710 and to the original credit.

Sent by
The advising bank passing the credit on
Sent to
The second advising bank, usually the beneficiary’s bank
