ACTV: Trading Status: Active

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

ACTV tells holders that trading in a security has started or has restarted after a suspension. It is an information event: nothing is paid or delivered, but trading, pricing and collateral systems need the new status.

Code
ACTV
Usually announced as
MAND

What ACTV means

Exchanges suspend securities for many reasons: pending price-sensitive news, a missing financial report, a merger in progress or a regulatory review. When the reason is cleared, the exchange lifts the suspension and the security trades again. ACTV is the corporate action notice of that change. It can also announce that a new line of shares has become tradable.

The event has no economic effect on the holding itself. Quantity, ISIN and entitlement are unchanged. It matters for anyone who needs a live market price: portfolio valuation, margin and collateral eligibility, order routing and client trading permissions.

When you see it

  • An MT564 with :22F::CAEV//ACTV and :22F::CAMV//MAND, usually with the effective date (:98a::EFFD) in sequence D, sent after the exchange announces that trading resumes. It normally follows an earlier SUSP event on the same security.
  • The trading status events form a small family: SUSP for a suspension, ACTV for active or re-activated trading, and DLST for a delisting. Euronext’s corporate events white paper lists ACTV with the information-only events.

What to do next

  • No instruction is needed and no movement follows. Update the security’s trading status from the effective date so that orders are accepted and prices are taken from the market again.
  • If you froze collateral values or used a manual price during the suspension, switch back to market prices and review any margin calls that were based on the stale price.
