What PODU means
With :24B::NMAT//PODU the market has seen two or more instructions with the same details. One may have matched while the other is left unmatched, or the system has held back matching until the duplicate is resolved.
Matching more than one instruction against a single trade would double the settlement, so markets are careful here.
When you see it
- After an instruction was resent by mistake (a retry after a time-out, or a second channel), or when two genuine trades have identical details.
What to do next
- Search your outgoing messages for instructions with the same trade date, ISIN, quantity, amount and counterparty.
- If it is a real duplicate, cancel the extra instruction. If both trades are genuine, tell the servicer and the counterparty, and use distinct common references.
