MT732 Advice of Discharge

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT732 tells the bank that presented documents under a documentary credit that documents received with discrepancies have been taken up. The issuing bank usually sends it after the applicant has accepted the discrepancies, and a nominated bank can send it to the bank from which it received the documents.

What MT732 is used for

When the documents do not comply, the issuing bank may hold them and ask the applicant whether it waives the discrepancies (often after an MT750 from the presenting bank or before sending an MT734 refusal). If the applicant accepts, the issuing bank takes up the documents and sends an MT732 so the presenting bank knows the drawing has been discharged.

Field 21 carries the presenting bank’s reference, field 30 the date of the covering letter under which the documents were sent, and field 32B the amount of the drawing without charges.
