MT970 Netting Statement

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT970 is a netting statement. A netting system sends it at agreed times to a subscriber, listing every transaction the system recorded that involves the receiving institution. Each transaction is reported once only in an MT970.

What MT970 is used for

The layout follows the MT950: opening balance, statement lines in field 61 and closing balance. Entries are sorted by ascending amount within debits and credits, and a long statement is spread over several messages numbered in field 28C.

Between scheduled statements the netting system can send an MT972 interim statement, and an MT971 gives balances only. A subscriber asks for them with an MT973.
