MT430 Amendment of Instructions
Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked
The MT430 amends the instructions of a collection. The remitting bank sends it to the collecting bank, and a collecting bank can send it to another collecting bank. It can change the maturity date, currency and amount (old values in 32a, new values in 33a), the drawee, or any other instruction in narrative.

What MT430 is used for
Field 21 quotes the collecting bank’s number, as given in field 20 of its MT410 acknowledgement. Sequence A repeats per amount being amended; sequence B holds the drawee and other amendments. The MT430 is the only collection message in which more than one currency can appear, because an amendment can change the currency of the collection.
Field 33a can be used only together with 32a in the same sequence (rule C1, error C09), and the message must contain at least one 32a or field 74 (rule C2, error C26).
