MT605 Commodity Notice to Receive

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT605 announces an incoming commodity. The owner of a commodity account, or its authorised agent, sends it to the account servicing institution to say that a quantity of a commodity will arrive, by book entry or physical delivery, and is to be held for or credited to its account.

What MT605 is used for

It is the receiving counterpart of the MT604. The first part names the commodity, the account to be credited and the value date; the repetitive part (one to ten occurrences) gives the quantity, bar numbers and the party delivering the commodity in field 87a, which is mandatory here.

A notice lets the account servicer match an incoming delivery or transfer before it books it. Once the commodity is received, the servicer confirms the booking with an MT607 credit advice and the entry appears in the MT608 statement.
