MT920 Request Message

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT920 is a request for a statement or report. The account owner, or a concentrating bank acting for it, sends it to the account servicing bank to ask for an MT940, MT941, MT942 or MT950 with the latest information on one or more accounts. It should only be used when the account owner has authorised it and on agreed terms.

What MT920 is used for

Each repetition names the message wanted (field 12) and the account (field 25). For an MT942 interim report a floor limit in field 34F is required, so that only entries above the amount are reported: one 34F applies to debits and credits alike; two 34F, the first with D and the second with C, set separate debit and credit limits in the same currency.

The answer comes back as the requested statement or report. Intraday reporting through MT920 and MT942 is common in treasury and liquidity management.
