MT941 Balance Report

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT941 is a balance report. The account servicing bank sends it to the account owner, or to a bank or party the owner has authorised, to give the balances of an account at the time stated in field 13D, without listing the individual entries. It is often sent on request through an MT920 or on an agreed schedule during the day.

What MT941 is used for

The report gives the book balance (62F, mandatory), and optionally the opening balance, the number and sum of debit and credit entries since then (90D and 90C), the closing available balance (64) and forward available balances (65). The currency must be the same in all balance fields.

For entry-level intraday information the MT942 is used instead; for end-of-day statements the MT940 or MT950. Banks receiving the report must not use the information for their own purposes.
