MT508 Intra-Position Advice
Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked
The MT508 is sent by an account servicer to the account owner to confirm that the quantity of a security held with a given status went up or down within the same holding, for example from available to blocked. The sender may be a sub-custodian acting for its global custodian client, or a custodian acting for an investment manager or broker-dealer.

What MT508 is used for
An intra-position movement does not change who owns the securities or where they are held; only the sub-balance changes. The account owner asks for such a movement with an MT524, and the servicer confirms each completed movement with an MT508. A period summary of these movements is the MT538. Holdings by sub-balance show up in the MT535.
