MT538 Statement of Intra-Position Advices

Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked

The MT538 is sent by an account servicer to the account owner or its agent to list the increases and decreases of securities between sub-balances that took place during a period, for all or selected securities in a safekeeping account. It can answer an MT549 request and can also state that there were no such movements.

What MT538 is used for

Where the MT508 confirms one intra-position movement at a time, the MT538 is the period view of the same events, much as the MT536 is the period view of settled deliveries and receipts. Use it to reconcile sub-balance changes such as blocking and unblocking against the instructions you sent with the MT524. See how to read a custody statement.
