MT558 Triparty Collateral Status and Processing Advice
Written and maintained by ZagTrader. Last reviewed . How this page is sourced and checked
The MT558 is sent by a triparty agent after it receives a collateral instruction, usually an MT527, from its client. It goes to the collateral giver, the collateral taker or their account servicer and reports the status of the instruction, the valuation results and the status of the proposed collateral movements in securities and cash.

What MT558 is used for
In the triparty model the agent selects, values and moves the collateral; the two sides only instruct the exposure with an MT527. The MT558 is the feedback loop for that instruction, including allegements when the counterparty has instructed and you have not, and the MT569 gives the resulting collateral and exposure position. The status can also be requested with an MT549.
For the Eurosystem’s collateral management system, Clearstream lists ISO 20022 messages next to their ISO 15022 equivalents and has said it will keep supporting the ISO 15022 triparty messages alongside them, so the MT558 remains in use.

This is a catalogue entry: the field-by-field structure is not shown here because we publish structures only where we have checked them against public sources. Paste an MT558 into the parser to see each field decoded with its tag, name and value.
MT558 in ISO 20022
ISO 20022 splits the MT558 by function: colr.020 (instruction processing status), colr.021 (allegement notification) and colr.023 (triparty collateral status advice); Swift’s equivalence tables also list colr.024 for the cancellation of an allegement.
