DEND: Denied

What DEND means

DEND is a final answer to a request, not to an instruction. Under :25D::CPRC//DEND your cancellation will not be executed. Under :25D::TPRC//DEND your change of processing indicators (an MT530) will not be executed. Under :25D::CALL//DEND a repo call request is denied.

The :24B::DEND// reason explains why: DSET (the instruction already settled), DCAN (it was already cancelled), DPRG (settlement is in progress), DREP (the repo was cancelled), DCAL or DFOR (repo call not allowed), LATE or ADEA (request too late) or NARR.

DEND differs from REJT: a rejected request failed validation, a denied request was valid but cannot be done in the current state of the instruction.

When you see it

• In an MT548 with function CAST after a cancellation request sent too late, for example after the instruction had settled.
• After an MT530 request to hold, release or change a partial settlement indicator on an instruction that is already being settled.

What to do next

• If the reason is DSET, the trade has settled. To undo it you need a new instruction in the opposite direction, agreed with the counterparty.
• If the reason is DPRG, wait for the outcome of the settlement attempt and check the next settlement status.
• If the reason is DCAN, close the item: the instruction is already cancelled.
• If the reason is LATE or ADEA, ask the servicer whether the request can be resubmitted in the next window.
